The Science Behind It

Controlled healing. Accelerated results.

Microneedling works on a simple but powerful principle: when your skin experiences tiny, controlled micro-injuries, it kicks its natural repair process into high gear — producing fresh collagen and elastin to rebuild stronger, smoother, more even-toned skin.

To amplify results, we pair microneedling with one of three powerful enhancements — PRP, exosomes, or salmon DNA — each delivering growth factors and nutrients deep into the micro-channels where they can do the most good.

PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma)

We draw a small sample of your blood and spin it to concentrate your own growth-factor-rich platelets. Applied to freshly microneedled skin, PRP supercharges your body's natural healing response — accelerating collagen production and recovery with zero risk of reaction.

Exosomes

Exosomes are tiny cell-derived messengers packed with growth factors, peptides, and proteins that signal your skin cells to regenerate. Applied after microneedling, they penetrate deep into the micro-channels to accelerate healing, boost collagen, and promote skin renewal at a cellular level.

Salmon DNA (PDRN)

PDRN (polydeoxyribonucleotide) derived from salmon DNA is a powerful skin regenerator. It promotes tissue repair, reduces inflammation, and improves skin elasticity and hydration. When delivered through microneedling channels, it stimulates cell growth for firmer, more radiant skin.

Versatile Treatment

One treatment. Many skin concerns.

Microneedling addresses a wide range of skin issues by working with your body's natural repair mechanisms.

Fine Lines & Wrinkles

Stimulates collagen production to smooth and soften lines, especially around the eyes, mouth, and forehead.

Acne Scars

Breaks down scar tissue and triggers new collagen to gradually fill and smooth depressed scars.

Uneven Texture

Resurfaces rough, bumpy, or uneven skin for a smoother, more refined complexion.

Large Pores

Collagen remodeling around pores tightens and minimizes their appearance over time.

Hyperpigmentation

Helps fade dark spots and sun damage by accelerating cell turnover and renewal.

Stretch Marks

Triggers collagen rebuilding in stretched skin, improving color and texture of stretch marks.

The Process

What to expect on treatment day

Your appointment takes about 60–90 minutes from start to finish, including numbing time.

01

Consultation & Skin Assessment

Lyndsay evaluates your skin concerns, reviews your history, and recommends the best microneedling approach and enhancement for your goals.

02

Numbing & Preparation

We apply topical numbing cream while your chosen enhancement is prepared — whether that's spinning your blood for PRP or preparing exosomes or salmon DNA serum. By the time everything is ready, you're comfortably numb.

03

Microneedling Treatment

Using a medical-grade device, tiny needles create precise micro-channels in your skin while your chosen serum (PRP, exosomes, or salmon DNA) is applied topically. The treatment takes about 30–45 minutes.

04

Healing & Collagen Production

Your skin begins its natural healing response immediately. New collagen and elastin form over the following weeks, with full results emerging at 4–6 weeks.

Recovery & Results

What happens after your treatment

Recovery is straightforward and most patients are back to their routine within a day or two. Here's what to expect.

Day 1

Pink & Warm

Skin looks like a mild sunburn with redness and warmth. Some tightness is normal. Avoid makeup, sun, and active products.

Day 2–3

Calming Down

Redness fades significantly. Skin may feel dry or slightly flaky. You can typically return to light makeup and your normal routine.

Day 4–7

Renewal Phase

Skin may peel lightly as new cells come to the surface. This is your skin renewing itself — don't pick or exfoliate.

Week 2–4

Glow Emerging

Skin starts to look noticeably smoother and brighter. Collagen production is actively underway beneath the surface.

Week 4–6

Full Results

Maximum collagen remodeling from this session is complete. Skin is firmer, smoother, and more even-toned. Time for your next session.

Which enhancement is right for you?

Lyndsay will recommend the best option based on your skin concerns, but here's a quick guide:

PRP

Best for acne scars, deep texture issues, and overall rejuvenation. Uses your own blood — 100% natural with zero risk of reaction.

Exosomes

Best for anti-aging, skin brightening, and accelerated healing. Ideal if you want potent growth factors without a blood draw.

Salmon DNA (PDRN)

Best for hydration, elasticity, and inflammation reduction. Great for dull or dehydrated skin that needs deep repair and moisture.

FAQ

Common Questions

Here are the questions we hear most about microneedling. If yours isn't listed, we're always happy to chat.

Does microneedling hurt?
We apply a medical-grade topical numbing cream before your treatment, so most patients describe the sensation as a light vibrating or scratching feeling — not painful. Some areas (like around the nose or forehead) can be slightly more sensitive, but overall it's very well-tolerated. Most patients say it was much easier than they expected.
How much downtime should I expect?
Your skin will look and feel like a mild sunburn for 24–48 hours — pink or red with some warmth and tightness. By day 2–3, most patients can apply makeup and return to their normal routine. You'll want to avoid direct sun, heavy sweating, and active skincare ingredients (retinol, acids) for about a week. It's a great Friday afternoon treatment.
How many sessions will I need?
Most patients see the best results with a series of 3–4 sessions spaced 4–6 weeks apart. This allows your skin to complete its healing and collagen-building cycle between treatments. For deeper concerns like acne scars or significant texture issues, additional sessions may be recommended. Lyndsay will create a treatment plan based on your specific skin goals.
Can microneedling help with acne scars?
Absolutely — this is one of microneedling's greatest strengths. The controlled micro-injuries trigger your skin to produce new collagen and elastin in the scarred areas, gradually smoothing and filling in depressed scars. When combined with PRP, exosomes, or salmon DNA, the results can be even more dramatic. Most patients with acne scarring see significant improvement over a series of treatments.
What are PRP, exosomes, and salmon DNA — and how do I choose?
All three are applied to your skin during microneedling to enhance results. PRP (platelet-rich plasma) is concentrated from your own blood and is great for scars and deep rejuvenation. Exosomes are cell-derived growth factor messengers ideal for anti-aging and brightening. Salmon DNA (PDRN) is a tissue regenerator that excels at hydration and elasticity. Lyndsay will recommend the best option for your specific skin concerns during your consultation.
Can I combine microneedling with other treatments?
Yes! Microneedling pairs beautifully with other treatments. Many patients combine it with facials, chemical peels (at different appointments), or even injectables as part of a comprehensive skin rejuvenation plan. Lyndsay can help you create a treatment timeline that maximizes your results. Just keep in mind that treatments should be properly spaced to allow your skin to heal.
Who should avoid microneedling?
Microneedling isn't recommended for people with active acne breakouts, active skin infections, or certain skin conditions like eczema or psoriasis in the treatment area. It's also not performed during pregnancy or breastfeeding, or on patients using blood-thinning medications. If you're on Accutane, you'll need to wait at least 6 months after stopping. During your consultation, Lyndsay will review your full history to make sure it's safe for you.
